Accreditations and Certifications

Housebuilders and housing providers need evidence, not assurances, when they appoint a roofing contractor. Each certification below is assessed by an independent body against a published standard, and each answers a question a buyer or procurement team would otherwise have to investigate for themselves. ISO 9001: quality management

ISO 9001 certifies that a business operates a documented quality management system covering how work is planned, carried out, monitored and improved, and that the system is actually in use rather than described in a tender response. For Globe Roofing, that means fixing schedules applied consistently across plot types, felt and batten specification recorded in plot-specific quality plans, ventilation checked at first fix and again at completion, and non-conformances tracked from identification to closure.

For a housebuilder's buyer, the value is consistency across a long programme: the standard on phase five should match phase one, even when gangs have changed. It also means the documentation a warranty inspector reviews is produced as part of the normal process, not assembled when an inspection is announced. For a housing association, it means an auditable record of what was specified, what was installed and when it was inspected.

ISO 14001: environmental management

ISO 14001 certifies an environmental management system. A certified business has identified how its activities affect the environment, understands the legal and other obligations that apply to it, sets objectives to control and reduce its impact, and is audited on whether it is doing so and improving over time.

Every roofing scheme generates material waste, deliveries and site activity. For a procurement team, ISO 14001 is independent evidence that those effects are managed through a system rather than left to individual sites, which supports the client's own environmental commitments.

ISO 45001: occupational health and safety

ISO 45001 certifies an occupational health and safety management system: hazards are identified and risks assessed, controls are put in place, incidents and near misses are investigated, and performance is reviewed and improved. Roofing involves work at height, often in exposed conditions on sites shared with other trades, so this is the certification that speaks most directly to the risk carried on site.

For a principal contractor with duties under CDM 2015 to ensure that contractors on site are competent, and for a housing association whose residents live beneath the work, ISO 45001 shows that safety is managed as an audited system, not only as a set of site rules.

CHAS

Globe Roofing is a CHAS Accredited Contractor. CHAS independently assesses a contractor's health and safety management against nationally recognised standards. For the developers and principal contractors who appoint us, it gives assurance from day one without the need to carry out that vetting themselves, and it simplifies pre-qualification.

SMAS Worksafe

SMAS Worksafe is an independent health and safety pre-qualification assessment, in which a contractor's health and safety policies, procedures and competence are reviewed by an assessor. For a housing association, local authority or principal contractor, it provides a recognised, independently checked answer to health and safety pre-qualification questions, which can shorten the route to appointment.
